9 tips to take care of your MADA candle
Buying a quality scented soy candle is the first step towards a fragrant and healthy home environment, but do you already know the secrets to maximize the use of MADA soy wax?
Read our simple tips!
1. Cut the wick each time you turn it on
The wick, whether it is cotton or wood, requires special attention before each new ignition: remove the upper part of the wick with scissors or, even better, with the convenient dedicated tool, leaving a margin of about 4 mm.
Each time you switch off, allow the candle to cool before shortening the wick or lighting it again.
2. Make the candle burn enough
Especially on first use, let the candle burn for at least two hours , then the time will vary according to the size of the candle itself.
The aim is to light it long enough to ensure that it burns evenly , avoiding the "crater" in the central part that will prevent the flame from developing correctly and spreading all the fragrance.
In any case, remember not to exceed 4 hours of burning.
3. Keep the wick in the center of the candle
If it does move towards the walls of your candle, reposition the wick in the center with a simple move: turn off the flame and, before the wax cools completely, move it with the help of a utensil.
By doing this, when the wax is switched on again, the wax will once again melt evenly and diffuse the fragrance in a more persistent way, also avoiding overheating of the walls.
4. Do not extinguish the candle by blowing
To extinguish the candle at the end of its use, choose a convenient flame trap . This way you will avoid spreading the flame, an action that could cause avoidable domestic accidents, and you will not spread the ashes of the wick on the wax.
5. Choose the right size
Depending on the environment in which you are going to place them, the candles will be more or less suitable in certain sizes: the right size will ensure that the fragrance spreads evenly throughout the room.
The scent that emanates, in fact, is proportional to the amount of wax that melts, so for larger environments such as the living room or open-space, opt for our Great Candle and choose classic candles for smaller rooms.
6. Light the long wick starting from the sides
In oval candles with a long central wick, the best way to light them is by bringing the flame closer to the sides and letting the flame spread to the center as well, so that it takes place gradually and uniformly.
7. Keep the surface clean
Candles do not have an expiration date, but if you do not use them regularly it is good that they are covered to prevent dust from settling on their surface.
Did not you know? Don't worry, you can remove existing dust with a damp cotton swab or by wetting and drying them with a cloth.
8. Avoid sudden changes in temperature
Organic soy wax is a plant-derived ingredient that is extremely safe for us, non-toxic and non-polluting, as well as sustainable for the environment.
To keep the color of your candle intact, remember not to place it in direct sunlight or in too cold environments , since being a 100% natural ingredient it is sensitive to external agents that can cause alterations.
9. Stop using when about 1 cm is missing
When you realize that you have almost reached the end of your beloved candle, put it out and wait for it to cool. You can then decide to:
- Remove the wax to reuse the container
- Reuse the wax you removed in an essence burner
- Dispose of wax and container in the trash
To remove it, you simply have to put hot water in the container to allow the wax to melt. You can do all this directly on the kitchen sink because, we remind you, that soy wax is environmentally friendly. After that you can finish cleaning the container in your dishwasher.
