9 tips to take care of your MADA candle
Buying a quality scented soy candle is the first step towards a healthy, fragrant home environment, but do you already know the secrets to optimizing the use of MADA soy wax?
Read our simple tips!
1. Trim the wick after each lighting
The wick, whether cotton or wooden, requires special attention before each new lighting: remove the upper part of the wick with scissors or, even better, with the convenient dedicated tool, leaving a margin of about 4 mm.
After each extinguishing, allow the candle to cool before trimming the wick or relighting it again.
2. Let the candle burn long enough
Especially when using it for the first time, let the candle burn for at least an hour , then the time will also vary depending on the size of the candle itself.
The goal is to light it long enough to allow the wax to melt evenly , avoiding the “crater” in the central part that will prevent the flame from developing correctly and spreading all the fragrance.
In any case, remember not to exceed 4 hours of burning.
3. Keep the wick in the center of the candle
If it should move towards the walls of your candle, reposition the wick to the center with a simple move: turn off the flame and, before the wax cools completely, move it with the help of a utensil.
By doing so, when you turn it on again the wax will be able to melt evenly again and spread the fragrance more persistently, also avoiding overheating of the walls.
4. Do not blow out the candle
To extinguish the candle at the end of its use, choose a convenient flame snuffer . In this way you will avoid spreading the flame, an action that could cause avoidable domestic accidents, and you will not spread the ashes of the wick on the wax.
5. Choose the right size
Depending on the environment in which you are going to place them, candles will be more or less suitable in certain sizes: the right size will ensure that the fragrance spreads evenly throughout the room.
The scent it gives off, in fact, is proportional to the quantity of wax that melts, so for larger rooms such as the living room or open-space, opt for our Big Candle and choose classic candles for smaller rooms.
6. Light the long wick starting from the sides
For oval candles with a long central wick, the best way to light them is to bring the flame closer to the sides and let the flame spread to the center as well, so that it happens gradually and evenly.
7. Keep the surface clean
Candles do not have an expiration date, but if you do not use them regularly, it is best to cover them to prevent dust from settling on their surface.
Didn't know? Don't worry, you can remove the dust already present with a damp cotton ball or by wetting them and drying them with a cloth.
8. Avoid sudden changes in temperature
Organic soy wax is a plant-based ingredient that is extremely safe for us, non-toxic and non-polluting, as well as sustainable for the environment.
To keep the color of your candle intact, remember not to place it in direct sunlight or in very cold environments , since being a 100% natural ingredient it is sensitive to external agents that can cause alterations. For this reason it may happen that on the surface of your candle a "frosting" effect forms as if it were glazed, but do not worry, it is only an aesthetic factor and is absolutely not defective, it will be perfectly usable.
9. Stop using when about 1cm is left
When you realize that you are almost at the end of your beloved candle, blow it out and wait for it to cool down. You can then decide to:
- Remove the wax to reuse the container
- Reuse the wax you removed in an essence burner
- Dispose of wax and container in the trash
To remove it, you will simply have to put hot water in the container to allow the wax to melt. You can do all this directly on the kitchen sink because, we remind you, soy wax is environmentally friendly. After that, you can finish cleaning the container in your dishwasher.
